Leaves - An Metaphor for Life

There are so many kinds of leaves. They come in all sizes, shapes and colors. Some have grow on trees with characteristics of more like a shrub and others are grand. Some are decorated and others are use to adorn our landscaping. But whatever the tree's use, I liken its leaves to the many kinds of people in the world.

There are those who are long and others short. Some are thin and others are wide and they range in colors that cover the spectrum.

Some leaves remain on the tree all year round and others fall only to have others replace them in the spring. You might say they resemble friends who are with us for a season or a reason, or times when we must move on in life.

Then you have the leaves that fall and land on a stream that takes them along to unexplored places. Although it is at the mercy of the water, is seems to not fight the flow. It simply glides along and finds rest where ever it ends up.

Maybe we should learn not buck the challenges in our lives and ride the flow? Spirit has a bigger picture of our lives and purpose. In our limited vision, we can sometimes delay the blessings that are for our embracing because we cannot see the forest for the trees, or the leaves as part of the big picture.
